Hostelworld Adventures

This project is a brief in YCN competition entered by Hostelworld. 


The mobile application is called HOSTELWORLD ADVENTURES. The aim of the app is to encourage people to travel around the world and stay in hostels of Hostelworld. The app provides searching for adventures divided into six sectors: ART & CULTURE, EDUCATION, GASTRONOMY, MUSIC & FESTI- VAL, SPORT and TOUR. The traveller will visit places and stay in certain hostels (of Hostelworld) because of these experiences. According to my research and questionnaire, many people are afraid to travel alone, and it is one of the reason’s why they don’t travel. So the app provides an option called a TRAVEL MATE which helps to find a travel mate for people who don’t want to travel alone. The app connects booking a hostel with adventures - event or activity, and finding a travel mate. 


People will firstly search the activity or event which they want to practise. If they want to find a travel mate, they will select an option TRAVEL MATE, and they will fill the date when they want to travel and start browsing the profiles, which the app gener- ated, with the identic dates and identic adventures. They can swipe and visit profiles and if they find someone who is suitable for them they can connect with him. On each profile will be basic information about people, their interests, their experienced adventures and also reviews of other people. Users won’t have a real photo as a profile picture but bitmoji because they should not to be affected by an appearance. 
I also decided to make a section in the app where people can share their adventures via photos or vlogs. It works as an Instagram, and it is a useful tool to convincing and encouraging people to try new activities and therefore book a hostel via Hostelworld. 

For the promotion of this application I decided to make a campaign with polaroid style photos. I decided on making polaroid photos because of capturing the particular and specific moment. I made a stamp in shape of the logo with the text: Capture your adventure.

These pictures will be as an ad on Instagram but they will be also printed and used as
areal flyer in polaroid size, and it can be located in university campuses or 13 libraries
or student’ s cafes or pubs.
